About Bibiana Beglau
Since the beginning of her career, Bibiana Beglau has worked with directors who have shaped contemporary theater and film. She has performed numerous times with directors such as Christoph Schlingensief, Dimiter Gotscheff, Einar Schleef, Frank Castorf, Luk Perceval, Martin Kušej, Sebastian Nübling and Thomas Ostermeier, before gaining national fame and international recognition for her starring role in Volker Schlöndorff’s film “The Legend of Rita”. In addition to engagements at all of the top German-language theaters, Bibiana Beglau has performed in many major film and television productions. Bibiana Beglau has won numerous honors for her outstanding acting performances, including the Silver Bear for best actress from the Berlin International Film Festival, the Ulrich Wildgruber Award and the Grimme Award. She was named Actress of the Year 2014 by the magazine “Theater heute” and in 2015 she won the German Theater Prize Der Faust. Bibiana Beglau is a member of the Academy of Arts and of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts.
