About Gert Rosenthal
Gert Rosenthal grew up in Berlin. After high school, an apprenticeship in a bank and a law degree, he began working as a lawyer – and later as a notary. His father, Hans Rosenthal, was not only a family member but also a very good friend. It was certainly Rosenthal senior who sparked Gert’s interest in radio, where he participated in radio plays and presented short texts from a very young age. In 1987, when his father died, Gert Rosenthal was working in the legal department of radio station SFB. Rosenthal is also active in Germany’s Central Council of Jews. He is also chairman of the Hans Rosenthal Foundation, which, since 1987, has supported people who find themselves in financial difficulties through no fault of their own. The foundation has helped nearly 10,000 people with over €10 million so far.
