About Hans Sigl
Hans Sigl was born in 1969 in Styria, Austria. From 1990 to 1993, he trained as an actor and singer at the Tyrolean State Theater in Innsbruck. Then came theater engagements in Innsbruck, at the Bremen Shakespeare Company and Stadttheater Freiburg. In 2008, Sigl took on the title role in the ZDF production, “Der Bergdoktor” [“The Mountain Doctor”], in which he has since appeared as Martin Gruber for 17 seasons. While remaining loyal to the theater, he has also discovered a love of public readings. He enjoys taking the audience into the realm of literature, including the works of Schnitzler and Mann. Sigl has received awards such as the Romy – no less than four times – as well as the Golden Hen audience award and a German Golden Camera as part of the team that made “Der Bergdoktor”.
