About Maja Göpel
Born in 1976, Professor Maja Göpel has been working for 25 years as a political economist and sustainability researcher at the interface of science, politics and society. The sought-after speaker was Secretary-General of the German Advisory Council on Global Change (WBGU) from 2017 until 2020. Until July 2021, she was Director of Research of The New Institute in Hamburg. She was appointed honorary professor at Leuphana University in Lüneburg in 2019. Maja Göpel is a member of the Club of Rome, the World Future Council, the Balaton Group, the Bioeconomy Council of the German Federal Government, and a co-founder of the initiative “Scientists for Future”.
