About Mehrnousch Zaeri-Esfahani
Mehrnousch Zaeri-Esfahani was born in 1974 in Isfahan, Iran, and came to Germany with her family in 1985. She studied social education in Freiburg and has been working with refugees since 1999. She was chairperson of what is now the Baden-Württemberg Refugee Council, looked after unaccompanied child refugees in Karlsruhe and has been a trainer and advisor for intercultural openness and voluntary supervision of refugees since 2014. In 2002 she won the Democracy Prize awarded by the Parliament of the Federal Republic of Germany for developing the interactive game “Asylopoly” and in 2012 she received the Innovation Prize from Diakonie Baden for setting up a free interpreting pool.
