About Michel Friedman
Born in 1956 in Paris, Michel Friedman is a lawyer, philosopher, journalist and presenter. From 2000 to 2003 he served as Vice President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany and edited the “Jüdische Allgemeine” newspaper. From 2001 to 2003, he was President of the European Jewish Congress. He is actively committed to combatting right-wing radicalism and fostering the integration of refugees. He has been an honorary professor of real estate and media law since 2016. He co-founded the Center for Applied European Studies at Frankfurt University, which he led until 2022. His broadcasting activities include the talk show “Auf ein Wort” for Deutsche Welle and “Friedman im Gespräch” for the Berliner Ensemble, “Demokratieforum” at Hambach Castle and the “Denken ohne Geländer” (Hannah Arendt) event series at the Jewish Museum in Frankfurt am Main. His book “Foreign” (2022) was on the best-seller list for months.
