About Peter Otto Büttner
Peter Otto Büttner is president of the Heidiseum Foundation and director of the Heidi Archive. Büttner is the great-grandson of painter Friedrich Wilhelm Pfeiffer, who created the original illustrations in 1880 for Johanna Spyri’s books, including Heidi. Büttner conducts research into Johanna Spyri’s literary works and initiated the Heidiseum in 2018. Following a stay in Scotland, he studied German and English literature and psychoanalysis at Goethe University in Frankfurt, graduating with a thesis on the Heidi author’s early work. As well as working for the radio station Hessischer Rundfunk, Büttner was curator for the Frankfurt foundation Bürgerstiftung at the cultural event venue Holzhausenschlösschen. He attained his PhD in 2013 as part of a Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) research project at the Department of Social Anthropology and Cultural Science (ISEK) of the University of Zurich.
