About Philipp Winkler
Philipp Winkler was born near Hanover in 1986 to working-class parents and was the first in his family to attend university. He writes novels and screenplays. His debut novel “Hool” (2011) was a Der Spiegel bestseller, was short-listed for the German Book Prize and won the ZDF aspekte Literature Award for Best German-language debut. His works have been translated into more than 10 languages and adapted to the stage many times. Film adaptations of all of his books are being developed. His most recent bestselling novel “Amrum” (2024) was based on the screenplay of the same name by film legend Hark Bohm.
