About Roberto Saviano
Roberto Saviano was born in Naples in 1979 and worked as a journalist after completing his studies in philosophy. Shortly after its publication in 2006, his book “Gomorrah” raced up the Italian bestseller charts and made him instantly famous. After receiving numerous death threats from the Camorra, Saviano has around-the-clock bodyguards and has been living in hiding for many years. Saviano has received the Geschwister Scholl Prize in 2009, the Olof Palme Prize in 2012 for his journalistic work exposing organized crime and corruption, and the M100 Media Award in 2016. The screenplay he co-wrote for the film “Piranhas” won the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2019.
