About Volker Schlöndorff
Volker Schlöndorff, born in Wiesbaden in 1939, studied political science in Paris and lives in Berlin. He has directed more than thirty films and television plays, as well as operas and theatre plays, for which he has received major national and international awards.
His autobiography “Licht, Schatten und Bewegung. Mein Leben und meine Filme” was published in 2008. Colm Tóibín's poetry collection “Vinegar Hill” was translated by Volker Schlöndorff together with Michael Krüger.
