“I’ve decided to wring a good story out of this meaningless day”. Lena Klenke and Langston Uibel look into everyday sorrow
“I’ve decided to wring a good story out of this meaningless day”. Lena Klenke and Langston Uibel look into everyday sorrow
Inspired by bestselling author Mariana Leky’s collection of columns, “Sorrow of All Kinds”, students in Cologne went about their days considering the question, “What’s on your mind?” They observed people. What are they thinking about? What are their worries and problems? And their quirks? Are they happy?
The characters in Leky’s short stories are connected by sorrow. They suffer from insomnia, heartache, sadness or all kinds of fears. The students’ texts show what people in Cologne and the surrounding area – caught up in daily life, completely unaware of one another – have in common. Lena Klenke (“How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)”, “Babylon Berlin”) and Langston Uibel (“Afire”, “Unorthodox”) will read excerpts from these encounters and insights. The evening is hosted by Marie-Christine Knop. Texts and concept: Students in the master’s program, “Theory and Practice of Professional Writing”
