Pool party or Reutershagen – Philipp Winkler, Charlotte Gneuß and Judith Poznan on the appeal of short stories
The literary magazine DAS GRAMM promises great literature in micro-format: Every issue contains a wonderful short story. At this event, three GRAMM authors, Philipp Winkler (“Creep”), Charlotte Gneuß (“Gittersee”) and Judith Poznan (“Prima Aussicht” [“Lovely View”]) come together to talk about their short stories. Winkler’s setting is a party in the mansions of Beverly Hills (where the arteries of Hollywood Chads, Hood Rats and Glossy Lips are pumped full of drugs between inflatable tropical islands, semi-automatic weapons and champagne). Gneuß takes us to the Rostock suburb of Reutershagen (a late-1970s summer: a girl becomes an important witness following an encounter with an older boy and a doll). And Poznan guides us through the apocalypse in LA and the sadness of Western Pomerania, sounding out the challenges and unforeseen possibilities of the short form.
