The God of the Woods – with Liz Moore and Marleen Lohse
August 1975: The Van Laars, a family of rich bankers, have created a camp amid the fabulous natural scenery of upstate New York. For years, it’s been a place where children and teens enjoy expansive nature, high-spirited games and carefree camaraderie. But the wonderful summer woods in the Adirondack mountains can quickly become dangerous. Especially during “Survival Week”, with minimal equipment and food. When 13-year-old Barbara disappears, panic breaks out. Rumors rapidly spread about the “witch” or “slitter” who might be responsible. And Barbara’s not the first to have disappeared.
Liz Moore’s The God of the Woods is a “a top-notch literary thriller” (The Guardian), which examines not only social inequality and dark family secrets, but also the battle for female autonomy. German text: Marleen Lohse; Host: Alf Mentzer
