The Institute – Hendrik Streeck and Jan Josef Liefers on a crime under the shadow of science
Hendrik Streeck, director of the Institute for Virology at University Hospital Bonn, is best known as a pandemic expert and author of non-fiction. His new book Das Institut [“The Institute”] is a high-speed thriller that plunges us into the darkest depths of science. A young researcher falls to her death from a Boston skyscraper. Early on in his investigation, Detective Vince Brickle discovers inconsistencies relating to a secret research project. Together with a virologist, Frank, Vince finds out that the dead woman has manipulated a dangerous virus so it can be used as a lethal weapon. And suddenly, the pair find themselves embroiled in a bitter fight between researchers, the US military and a Chinese pharmaceutical company.
A breathtaking thriller, brilliantly read by Jan Josef Liefers. Host: Bettina Böttinger
