Five years ago, the graphic novel “Rocky Beach” gave German fans a taste of what might have become of “The Three Investigators” had the perennially young characters grown up. Now fans can finally read the extended story of one of the three cult detectives: Who is Justus Jonas (aka Jupiter Jones in the English version)? And what has become of the clever “First Detective”? The graphic novel Justus Jonas: Eine Interpretation [“Justus Jonas: An Interpretation”] tells the story of how the now 19-year-old attempts to build on his career as a child actor. But it appears Hollywood has nothing to offer him apart from minor roles and fast-food advertising. Instead, something entirely different is waiting for him in the turmoil of 1970s Los Angeles: a new case. As the sole investigator, Justus must simultaneously find out who he wants to be. Murder, sex and drugs – Christopher Tauber and illustrator Marius Pawlitza reveal a totally new side of the First Detective in their conversation with Kai Schwind.
