Kästner, Kraftwerk, Cock Sparrer – Campino’s declaration of love for poetry with a purpose
Campino, the legendary lead singer of the band Die Toten Hosen, recently switched to a different kind of stage: In spring 2024, the punk was suddenly at the front of the lecture hall. He gave two lectures as Heinrich Heine Visiting Professor at HHU in Düsseldorf. Now, his lectures have been published with the title Kästner, Kraftwerk, Cock Sparrer. Eine Liebeserklärung an die Gebrauchslyrik. The texts are political and personal. They are about Düsseldorf and art, about the influence of English punk and its affinity for lyrical texts, about Germany’s Nazi past and his own ageing. Joining him on stage is the band’s guitarist Andreas “Kuddel” von Holst.
